Provide knowledge of the main concepts of health, disease, prevention. Epidemiological and preventive approach to major diseases.

Course contents
Epidemiological methodology: definition and fields of application, sources of statistical-epidemiological data and surveillance systems, epidemiological measures, the epidemiological study: design, types of study and bias, bibliographic reviews, meta-analysis and scientific evidence.
Health and disease determinants: factors that influence disease, food and nutrition, physical activity, individual behaviors and lifestyles, smoking, alcohol and other addictions.
Prevention of general disease: general concepts of disease prevention and prevention policies, transmission mode of infectious diseases, general prophylaxis of infectious diseases, passive immunoprophylaxis and chemoprophylaxis, vaccinology plans and vaccination campaigns, tests and screening campaigns.
Infectious diseases controls: general epidemiology and surveillance of infectious diseases, infectious diseases preventable with vaccinations, other infectious diseases with high health and social impact, food poisoning.
Health and Environment: environmental matrices and effects on health, environmental policies and human health, urban health, indoor environments.
