The course wants to give to the students the basics and the methodological means useful for critical knowledge of the main issues typical of digital economy law.
Targets of the course concerne the basic concepts of Digital Economy Law which are needful for the purposes of describing a legal framework consistent with newer legislative and jurisprudential evolution both nationally and internationally.

Admission requirements


Course contents

Personality rights.Freedom of information and communication in the Italian and European context. Digital revolution and new media.The tools for spreading thought: press and journalistic activity.
Internet and online content. Internet rules in domestic and European law. The responsibility of Internet service providers. On line defamation. Hate speech.. Cyber security. Personal data protection.

Teaching methods

The lessons will be in presence. Theaching is in italian linguage. In any case, the lessons will be recorded and made available on the ONELab platform.

Assessment methods

The exam will be in the presence. It will consist of a written test with 3 open-ended questions and the maximum time allowed will be 45 minutes.This type of evaluation is useful for understanding if students are able to explain and to tell clearly and coherently the most important concepts learned during the lessons, demonstrating awareness and ability to position with reference to the main legal problems concerning communication law and digital privacy.

Learning outcomes

Communication skills: At the end of the lessons, students will be able to:
- IDENTIFY the key concepts learned during the course also through the deepening of specific topics.
- DEFINE AND ILLUSTRATE the main problems related to interpretation of the law of digital economy

At the end of the course students will be able to:
- READ and COMPREHEND the main rules and the most important sentences
- REMEMBER essential aspects of digital economy law
- APPLY the main rules of economic law
- DEVELOP coordination between the main topics covered during the lessons

judgment autonomy:

At the end of course students will be able to:
- DEFINE and DISCUSS the most important concepts of digital economy law
- EXPRESS a critical opinion about the various institutes and on the relative rules

Communication skills:
At the end of the course students will be able to:
- COMMUNICATE clearly the notion learned also through the in-depth study of specific topics
-KNOWING HOW TO USE juridical notions and terms concerning the law of the digital economy correctly

Ability to learn:
At the end of the course students will be able to:
-DEVELOP the ability to autonomously investigate the most important legal issues related to the use of the Internet in the broader context concerning the right of communication and digital privacy
- DEMONSTRATE the ability to focus attention on new legislative and jurisprudential developments in the field of communication and digital privacy both nationally and supranationally


Per la parte relativa ai concetti fondamentali del diritto della comunicazione si consiglia lo studio del seguente testo: S.Sica- V.Zeno- Zencovich: Manuale di diritto dell'informazione e della comunicazione, Cedam, Padova, 2019 (capitoli I, II, III, IV (solo i paragrafi 10,12, 13, 14), IX, X, XI, XIV).
Per la parte più specifica relativa al diritto di internet, si consiglia lo studio di M.Mensi- P.Falletta, Il diritto del web, Cedam, Padova, 2018 (capitoli I, II, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, XI, XII).
