Theory and practice in vibration problems

Admission requirements

Advanced knowledge of:
Calculus, Algebra, Classical Mechanics, Statics, Continuum Mechanics

Course contents

Vibrations of mechanical systems, n-dof and continuous systems, vibration modes
Experimental modal analysis
Signal processing:i Fourier transform, sampling, leakage
Random vibrations: power spectral density, coherence, measuring Frequency Response Function
Vehicle vibrations: sources of vibration and noise, Transfer Path Analysis (TPA)
Design criteria: resonances, damping, dynamic absorbers
Lab. equipment: piezo-electric sensors, no contact measurements, hammer testing, shaker tests
Fundamental of acoustics
