Overview
The course intends to introduce 2nd year students to the study of foreign legal systems and comparative legal methods, and to acquaint them with relevant materials and sources.
Admission requirements
None. Knowledge of the following 1st year subjects is nonentheless recommended: Istituzioni di diritto romano, Istituzioni di diritto privato, Diritto costituzionale
Course contents
The course intends to introduce 2nd year students to the study of foreign legal systems and comparative legal methods.Comparative analysis will focus especially on the historical development of legal systems, their sources of law, their distinctive legal institutions and remedies, legal education and legal reasoning, methods of rights protection, with particular regard to the western legal tradition (civil law and common law),and the interaction with other legal traditions.
Teaching methods
The course will take place in the I Semester (Fall term) on campus, compatibly with sanitary provisions. Language: Italian. Lectures, also contemplating, students'involvement and participation. Seminars or conferences might be offered on particular topics.
Assessment methods
Exams will take place on campus, compatibly with Covid -19 provisions and consequent measures. Oral exam of about 30 minutes, based on questions (at least 3) on the course's contents and issues.
Learning outcomes
Students will acquire: - knowledge and understanding of comparative legal methods and their areas of application; - knowledge and understanding of the main features of foreign legal systems, with particular regard to the western legal tradition; - ability to find foreign legal materials and sources; - technical and linguistic skills to better interact with jurists belonging to a different legal tradition.

I materiali contenuti nelle "Appendici" ai capitoli del testo consigliato costituiscono lettura integrativa e non sono direttamente oggetto di domanda di esame; non è richiesta la lettura dei materiali riprodotti in lingua straniera (non tradotti).
